Parceler (hereinafter called "Parceler", "we", "our", or "us") provides a parcel tracking service that lets you monitor shipments from more than 3,200 carriers worldwide. We built Parceler on the belief that keeping track of a package should be simple, and that your privacy should never be the price of that simplicity. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you use our website and iOS application, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have along the way. By using the Licensed Software, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
We try to collect as little as possible, and only what we genuinely need to return a tracking result and keep the service running well. The categories of information we collect are:
- Tracking data— the tracking numbers and carrier names you enter to look up shipments, along with the status history returned by carriers.
- Device information— anonymous identifiers, app version, device model, operating system, and crash reports used to keep the app stable across the many phones and browsers our users rely on.
- Usage analytics— aggregated information about which features are used most often, with no personal identifiers attached.
- Optional account details— if you choose to save shipments to an account, the email address you provide and the shipments you save.
How We Collect Information
Information reaches us in three ways:
- Directly from you— when you type a tracking number, create an account, or send us a message through our contact form.
- Automatically— through cookies, software development kits, and similar technologies that record how the website and app are being used.
- From third parties— specifically the carriers and logistics partners that send shipment status back to us in response to the tracking numbers you ask about.
How We Use Your Information
The data we collect goes toward a short list of purposes:
- Fetch live status updates from carrier networks.
- Send you the delivery notifications you have opted in to.
- Diagnose problems and improve the reliability of the app.
- Communicate important service updates such as outages or changes to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we never use your tracking history for advertising. Your packages are your business, not a product we trade.
Legal Bases for Processing
If you are in a region that requires us to name a legal basis for handling your information — such as the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom — we rely on one or more of the following, depending on the situation:
- Performance of a contract— to return the tracking results you ask for and to provide the account features you sign up for.
- Legitimate interests— to keep the Service secure, diagnose problems, and understand in aggregate how Parceler is used, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent— for optional things like delivery notifications and certain cookies, which you are free to withdraw at any time.
- Legal obligation— where the law requires us to retain or disclose certain information.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Like most websites and apps, we use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, measure performance, and understand how the service is used. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though you may find that some features no longer behave as intended without them. What we do not do is use your tracking history to build advertising profiles, and we do not allow third-party ad networks to follow you across other websites by way of our service.
The cookies and similar technologies we use fall into a few groups:
- Strictly necessary— required for the site to function, such as remembering your session and keeping it secure. These cannot be switched off through our interface.
- Preference— remember choices you make, like your language or the carriers you look up most often.
- Analytics— help us count visits and see which features are used, always in aggregate, so we can improve the Service.
Analytics and Service Providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to host our infrastructure, deliver notifications, and measure performance. These partners process information only on our behalf, under contracts that limit what they may do with it, and they are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes. We do not run third-party advertising networks on Parceler, and we do not let advertisers track you across other sites through our service.
Push Notifications and Communications
If you opt in, we send push notifications and emails about the shipments you are tracking — delivery updates, exceptions, and the occasional important notice about the Service. You can turn these off at any time from your device settings or by using the unsubscribe link in any email. We will still send the rare message we are legally required to send, such as a material change to this policy.
Sharing and Disclosure
We share information only in a few limited situations, and never for money:
- Carriers— when you request tracking updates, we pass the tracking number you entered to the relevant carrier so it can return the latest status. From that point the carrier handles the information under its own privacy practices.
- Service providers— the vendors that host our infrastructure, deliver notifications, or help us analyze usage, each bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Legal reasons— when required by law, regulation, or legal process, or where doing so is necessary to protect the rights, safety, and property of our users or of Parceler.
- Business transfers— in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you as required by law.
Third-Party Services and Links
Parceler depends on third-party carriers, and our pages may link out to external websites or services that we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not extend to those third parties, so we encourage you to read the privacy practices of any carrier or website you interact with through Parceler.
International Data Transfers
We operate globally, which means the information we collect may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, where the rules around data protection can differ from those at home. Wherever your data happens to be processed, we apply appropriate safeguards designed to protect it consistently with this policy and with applicable law.
Data Retention
Quick lookups are kept only for as long as it takes to return a result. Tracking numbers you save to an account stay available until you remove them or delete the account itself. Anonymous analytics may live on a while longer in aggregate form so we can study trends over time, but we delete or anonymize personal information once it is no longer needed for the purposes described here.
Security
We protect your data with industry-standard encryption both in transit and at rest, we follow the principle of least privilege so that internal access is limited to those who need it, and we review our security practices on a regular basis. No system is ever perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise, but we work continuously to keep the gap between "very secure" and "perfect" as small as we can.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain kinds of processing. Where we rely on your consent to use your data, you are free to withdraw it at any time. You can exercise any of these rights by getting in touch with us; we will respond within the timeframe the law requires, and we will never treat you differently for having asked.
Your Rights in the European Economic Area and the UK
If you are located in the EEA, the UK, or another region with similar laws, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we process it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Where we process your data on the basis of consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, though we hope you will give us the chance to put things right first.
Your Rights in California
If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request access to or deletion of that information, and to correct inaccuracies. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Because we do not sell or sharepersonal information as those terms are defined under California law, there is no "Do Not Sell" action for you to take — but you are welcome to contact us with any request all the same.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is still no agreed industry standard for how to interpret it, Parceler does not currently respond to these signals differently. We do, however, limit tracking to what the service genuinely needs, regardless of the signal your browser sends.
Children’s Privacy
Parceler is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time as our service evolves. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where it is appropriate, let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use Parceler after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Contact Us
If you have questions about this policy or about the data we hold, reach our team through our contact page and we will be glad to help. You can also read the Terms of Service that govern your use of Parceler.
