DPD
Regional & Last-Mile Carrier

DPD Tracking

DPD is one of Europe's biggest parcel networks, and if you've ordered from a German, French, or UK online shop, there's a good chance your package travelled on a DPD van at some point. The carrier is best known for its road-based depot-to-depot network across the continent and the famous one-hour "Predict" delivery window it sends to recipients. Drop your DPD parcel number into Parceler and we'll pull the latest scan for you, no matter which DPD country site it originated on.

Local coverage and last-mile delivery — most often the final leg of a marketplace or e-commerce order.

About DPD

DPD started in 1976 in Aschaffenburg, Germany, when 18 regional freight forwarders pooled their networks into a shared parcel service ("Deutscher Paketdienst"). In 2001 it was acquired by France's Geopost, the parcel arm of La Poste, and today it operates as one brand across roughly two dozen European countries. That cooperative, road-network heritage is still visible in how DPD works: parcels move between regional depots by truck rather than relying on air hubs, which makes it especially strong for next-day and two-day delivery within Europe.

For most shoppers, a DPD parcel flows like this: the retailer hands it to a local DPD depot, it's sorted and trucked toward the destination country and region, then a final depot loads it onto a delivery round. DPD's "Predict" service is the part recipients notice most, sending an email or SMS with a one-hour delivery window and the option to reroute the parcel to a neighbour, a Pickup parcelshop, or another day before the driver arrives.

DPD tracking number format: DPD parcel numbers are most commonly 14 digits (numeric), though the exact format varies by country — DPD UK, for example, often uses a 14-character alphanumeric reference. You'll find it on the retailer's dispatch email or the DPD Predict notification.

DPD services

The shipping options you'll most often see on DPD parcels.

DPD Classic (road parcel)

DPD's core service, moving standard parcels by road between European depots with reliable next-day or two-day delivery in many countries.

DPD Predict

The recipient-facing feature that sends a one-hour delivery window plus live options to reschedule, reroute to a neighbour, or redirect to a Pickup point.

DPD International / Classic Europe

Cross-border parcel delivery throughout the Geopost network, with customs handling for shipments leaving or entering the EU.

DPD Pickup parcelshops & lockers

A network of local shops and automated lockers where parcels can be sent, collected, or returned when home delivery doesn't suit.

DPD Express / time-definite air

Faster premium options for urgent or longer-distance shipments where standard road transit isn't quick enough.

DPD Returns

Prepaid and in-store return options that let shoppers send goods back to retailers via a parcelshop or a scheduled collection.

Where this carrier fits

What a regional carrier handles

Regional and last-mile carriers specialise in a country or area, frequently picking up where a larger network or marketplace leaves off.

Last-mile delivery

They often handle just the final leg to your door after a marketplace or partner network moves the parcel into the region.

Focused coverage area

Deep coverage in their home country or region means dense scans locally and fewer once a parcel leaves that area.

Marketplace volume

Much of their work is e-commerce, so tracking numbers commonly arrive straight from a store rather than the carrier.

Lockers & pickup points

Many offer parcel lockers or pickup points as an alternative to a doorstep delivery attempt.

Two ways to track DPD

Either method works. Parceler is faster when you order from multiple carriers and want one timeline for everything.

Option A · Carrier site

Track on DPD.com

  1. 1. Find your DPD parcel number on the retailer's shipping confirmation email or in the DPD Predict SMS/email you received.
  2. 2. Go to dpd.com (or your local DPD country site, e.g. dpd.co.uk or dpd.de) and open the parcel tracking / 'Track' box on the homepage.
  3. 3. Paste the parcel number into the tracking field and submit to see the latest scans and the current status.
  4. 4. If DPD Predict is active, use the on-screen options to view your one-hour window or reschedule and reroute the delivery.
  5. 5. Prefer one place for every order? Enter the same DPD number into Parceler to track it alongside parcels from other carriers.
Option B · Parceler (recommended)

Track on Parceler

  1. 1. Paste your DPD number above. No sign-up.
  2. 2. Parceler auto-detects the carrier — no dropdown to pick from.
  3. 3. See every scan event, location, and timestamp on a single timeline.
  4. 4. Optionally subscribe to push or email alerts for status changes.
Side by side

Parceler vs. DPD's native tracking

The carrier's own site shows the data they own. Parceler unifies every leg — including the partner handoff at the border — and adds tools the carrier doesn't.

FAQ

DPD tracking — questions answered

It's usually a 14-digit numeric code, but the format depends on the DPD country handling your parcel — DPD UK often uses a 14-character alphanumeric reference instead. Look for it on the retailer's dispatch email or your DPD Predict notification.
